While lavishly enjoying your wedding day you wear a one of a kind dress, one that is solely your own, unless you are lucky enough to be able to wear a family heirloom wedding dress that has been preserved and handed down to you. Whether the bridals gown your wear while taking your walk down the isle is brand new or a family heirloom, your wedding dress must be preserved as soon as possible and no later than a month's time after your wedding. Since a wedding dress is, a great investment and you want to keep this investment in as good a shape as possible. You may decide to just hold on to your wedding dress as a sentimental keepsake and you may even entertain the idea of passing your wedding dress on to your future daughters to wear while walking down the isle of their own wedding.

No matter what your reason for wanting to keep your wedding dress it is imperative to have the dress cleaned by a professional cleaner who are especially trained in the preservation of such special items as a wedding dress. The reason it is very important to have your dressed cleaned for its preservation is that like any other article of clothing, the longer a stain is left to set, and the harder it is to remove. If you happen not to stain your wedding dress, consider yourself lucky, as there is many a bride who has gotten stains while attending their own wedding. Some stains to a wedding dress may include food or drink, champagne is one stain that is particularly hard to remove since, as many other consumable items it contains sugar, and the stain must be pretreated before being cleaned. As well, the hemline on many floor length-wedding dresses become stained with grass and other earth bound fragments such as mud, dirt and grime from walking around with a dress tail billowing behind you in all your wedding day glory.

When you take your wedding gown to the dry cleaners to have it cleaned and preserved, you will need to take the time to talk with the dry cleaner. This is not an item to just take in and drop off for cleaning, this is a specialty item and it is important to go over any ideas or questions concerning the cleaning of your gown. For instance, if your bridal gown is beaded the beads will all need to be securely attached before cleaning and there are certain types of beads that will simply dissolve in the regular dry cleaning solution, so the cleaner will need to use a different type of cleaning solution to allow for the difference of such beading. You will also need to be aware of any type of problems that may arise as well as inspect your wedding gown before you leave the dry cleaners. While inspecting your gown you may need to make other arrangements to have any stains that did not come out to be processed again to see if they are able to remove such staining. If you are not happy, you can always choose to have another dry cleaner to preserve your wedding dress for you. Remember once you have your dress preserved, it must be keep in a cool dry area.
